Otomí, also known by regional self-designations such as Hñähñu and Ñätho, refers to communities living across several states in central Mexico. Their musical and festive expressions vary among communities and cannot be inferred from a single ethnic label. This category brings together records associated with Otomí communities within the archive’s geographic structure. Provenance helps distinguish community recordings, staged performances, and research documentation. Original source designations should be preserved while adding, where supported, the name used by the community and the documented language.
