Funeral music accompanies wakes, processions, farewells and acts of remembrance, but its forms vary by community, religious tradition and historical period. In Mexico, wind bands, singers, string ensembles or recorded repertories may take part, serving purposes ranging from reflection to collective accompaniment. This category offers access to documents associated with funerary practices and compositions that evoke death. A piece’s title alone does not establish its use: catalog entries help distinguish ritual context, staged performance and commercial release.
