The members of this TRIBE have exercised the patient profession of pioneers in various disciplines, among which are those of empirical and practical scholars of autochthonous music, organizers of political and popular song meetings, defenders of the human rights of Juventino Rosas. and raiders in the soundscapes of our territory. To formalize their adventures, they have studied Ethnomusicology at the National School of Music, a career that to date has not been legally recognized, which is why the TRIBE is outside the law as far as the professional aspect is concerned.

This detail has not been enough to stop them, and they are already seen attending indigenous music meetings, or playing at some popular revelry or inventing music for ethnographic films. This acetate remains as a testimony of so much transhumant activity.

This record was born from TRIBU’s relationship with the indigenous people of the country. through his personal relationship as well as the research work and study of the music of the different ethnic groups of Mexico. It is in fact a small tribute to the indigenous people who have allowed us to penetrate their human and sound world.

 

A SIDE

 

1.- TENTHS OF HEALING (TRIBU)
Song composed for the film BRUJOS Y CURANDEROS produced in the Audiovisual Ethnographic Archive of the I.N.G. on the subject of traditional medicine. The text was made using both the traditional form of verse in tenths. like the music used for it in the Papaloapan basin. The text is as follows:

spirit Or Homeopathy,

I felt that I was increasing

I believed that I was dying

2.- THE VIPER (TRIBU)
Recreational piece made from different aspects of the son, the national genre par excellence, with its characteristic biting sense.

3.- USILEÑA ddp (TRIBU)
Song alluding to the Chinanteco town of Usila in the State of Oaxaca. In this interpretation. La Tribu takes the melody of the original song, adding various aspects of local music and popular music in general, to instrument this son itsmeño.

 

4.- AL CENTRO DE LA SOLEDAD (TRIBU)
The meaning of this piece evokes the solitude of the mountain, the sierra, the jungle, and of man even in the middle of a big city: it is somehow the solitude of the Indian.

In addition to various Western instruments, some tenabaris and a Tarahumara drum are used.

 

B SIDE 

 

1.- TIME MAIL (TRIBU)
The net of this song is that it was born without limitations of instruments or genres, as a musical narration about the country’s history and about the instrumental evolution of popular music. It is a mosaic of diverse cultural aspects that swarm in the social amalgamation of our world, and that was inspired by the Dance of “Coreos” that was danced in Atempan, Puebla, until very recently. The following hallucinate contemplates, with singular emotion, the origin and destination of this with which I look for its sender in you:

The sound has traveled from a sidereal silence
until it penetrates the atmosphere to shape the earth
allied to inert elements
and the dreams of magical cultures
or the multitudes that expand to unite two worlds
with a wound in hysteria.

This journey continues from the conquest to the double kingdom
from the viceroyalty to the cosmic race
until their Broken Bells ring
to delimit two eras
and to give way to the dark guitar player
to the revelry or to create cold river BANDidos sounds
or the cake war
and today how until when?
